The Lake in winter mode
Let yourself be charmed by the adventures documented in photos and videos of Alexandra Diaz. Allow yourself to live the same experience as her by consulting her itinerary for each season. In addition to being able to draw inspiration from her stay, you will be able to see all the companies that have made her visit unique.
Add them to your own itinerary for your regional trip.
DAY 1 | An evening under the slopes
This is the great departure from Montreal. For this first day, Alex will have a wonderful first evening. First cozy stop on her list: the Coolbox located at the foot of the slopes of Mont Lac-Vert.
The Coolbox experience is unique. Alex will sleep at the foot of the slopes in a container transformed into an unusual accommodation. The aim is to offer a rental with a low ecological footprint while maximizing user comfort.
After settling comfortably in the BOX, head to the Mont Lac-Vert Presbytery Inn for a most delicious meal. Gourmet cuisine inspired by the Quebec terroir where each ingredient is chosen with care. The inn's trademark is Chinese Fondue. Enjoy your meal!
DAY 2 | Fatbike and the IGLOFT experience
Start your day with a delicious breakfast at the resort chalet. Mont Lac-Vert is the highest lit mountain and has the highest tube slides in the region, 20 ski slopes of all levels, a renowned snow park and unique views of Lake Saint-Jean.
Today Alexandra will try an activity still little known: the Fatbike ride. For those who do not have a Fatbike, it is also possible to go snowshoeing, hiking, skiing and tube sliding.
After your Fatbike expedition, departure the Auberge des Îles where Alexandra will sleep for the next night. The Auberge des îles is the only hotel establishment directly located on the shore of the majestic Lake Saint-Jean. Enjoy the view of the lake in one of the two 4-season outdoor spas. The most beautiful sunsets to watch without moderation! Take advantage of the spa and services of the inn and above all, don't forget your swimsuits!
For dinner, head to downtown Alma for a fabulous meal at the local restaurant Le Décanteur.
Return to the Inn for a well-deserved rest before your next day of activities.
DAY 3 | On the ice of the lake
This is the great departure towards the Village sur Glace de Roberval where Alexandra will explore a small village developped each winter on the ice of Lake Saint-Jean. Over 200 houses are installed, there is also a 1 km ice ring and even a functional post office. The atmosphere is festive and a festival enlivens the village throughout the month of February. Enjoy many activities: walking trail, ice ring and slides.
PSSST: If you are in the area on February 22, you will be able to attend the CRYO race. CRYO Races is a regional event organized by the Sur la pointe des pieds foundation, which organizes therapeutic adventure expeditions for young people with cancer. Other than this day, you will be able to access the maintained trail for your own physical activity.
After this busy day, departure to the Auberge des îles where Alexandra will now experience the Igloft. The Igloft is a unique accommodation on the ice of Lake Saint-Jean. Being one of the largest in Quebec, this lake freezes solidly to become a real white desert. Its almost Arctic geography offers landscapes as far as the eye can see.
The two elements that set the Igloft apart are the comfort and the atmosphere offered by this space.
The Igloft is 20 minutes from the reception chalet. It is possible to go there on snowshoes, cross-country skiing or even walking. Your luggage can be transported by snowmobile.
DAY 4 | A majestic awakening before the big return
Take the morning to enjoy the experience of the white desert. Coffee in hand, put on your snow suit, and enjoy the sunrise outside, in the cold.
Or do like Alex and stay bundled up in your Igloft, sheltered from the freezing cold of the ice desert.
When you're ready, head to the front desk. It's already time to go home. Remember to stop in a small cafe in Alma or Saint-Gédéon before hitting the road back home.
It was the last winter trip for Alexandra Diaz. Soon she’ll be back to enjoy the SagLac’s spring. Stay tuned!
