Discover the flavors of autumn
Let yourself be charmed by the adventures documented in photos and videos of Alexandra Diaz. She will share her experiences with the hashtag #AlexauSagLac on her Instagram and on her Facebook account. She’ll share her adventures, her favorite activities, the stories about the great people she’ll meet, but most of all, she’ll share her discovery of a region that, though she lives within an easy drive, she had yet to explore!
DAY 1 | ARRIVAL BY THE AIR AND A 5-STAR HOME
It's the big departure to Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. Several ways are good to enter the region and the plane is still an unknown way to do so and this is how Alexandra came for her stay this time.
After an afternoon flight, head to OTL Gouverneur Saguenay where Alexandra will spend the rest of her stay.
OTL Gouverneur Saguenay is a 5-star hotel located in the heart of downtown Chicoutimi. Enjoy unique personalized service in a modern decor.
Evening supper suggestions: The Boefish restaurant that is attached to the hotel. The atmosphere, the food, everything will be waiting for you to spend a memorable evening.
DAY 2 | PLEASURES OF LIFE: DRINK AND EAT
It is around 10am in the morning that Alexandra Diaz decides to go to Ferme Michel Rivard et fille for a pick-your-own potato activity and tasting a specialty: the Blueberry poutine.
This farm located in Saint-Ambroise offers pick-your-own blueberries and potatoes in addition to concoct a multitude of homemade products and tours of the farm.
Alexandra’s favorite : "This blueberry poutine. This curiosity. This delight, no joke. Brownberry sauce with blueberries. Had to think about it, especially it had to be good. I admit it, I did not believe it very much. But, It's worth the detour. "
After a visit of the farm, go to another gourmet establishment: Domaine le Cageot.
This vineyard, which also produces berry alcohol, is unique in the region. The Domaine has accumulated international tributes since 1977 and produces products with flavors from Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean. Their latest product: ‘’The 1870- Le Grand feu’’ a blueberry liqueur with maple syrup that tells the story of the region as well as highlighting our typical flavors.
As part of Alexandra's stay a dinner with boreal flavors was organized at the Domaine. On the menu: great people, fun and regional products.
DAY 3 | RELAXATION AND READING
Before spending a busy day at the Salon du livre, Alexandra had a few hours of relaxation in the OTL Gouverneur Saguenay's urban spa: the PAŪS Spa.
Anchored in a setting where no detail has been left to chance, the spa offers a wide range of high-end treatments and services to immerse you in a state of deep relaxation.
Suggestions for relaxing treatments:
- outdoor and indoor hot baths
- cold pool
- dry saunas
- Eucalyptus steam bath
After a busy day at the Salon du livre, you can treat yourself with a dinner at the restaurant.
Here are some of Alex's suggestions:
- HopEra - Microbrewery and pizzeria
- L’USINE Labrasserie
- Bistro Café Summum
DAY 4 | RACE, FALL COLORS AND HEAD BACK HOME
What would be an autumn holiday without some colorful panoramas? The end of September brings a lot of color in the trees and it becomes essential to enjoy some of this beautiful nature and natural patterns it offers us. That's why Alexandra took her running shoes and set out to discover the Parc de la Rivière-du-Moulin.
The park is a real forest in the city! It offers marked and looped trails for hiking, snowshoeing or cross-country skiing. In order to take advantage of this exceptional environment, it is possible to rent several types of equipment depending on the season.
Alex's favorite: The Papawetish Way is beautiful! It is a 3km along the river. The panoramas are beautiful all year round, but even more so in the fall!
After the morning race, it is already time for our dear Alexandra Diaz to fly back to the city of Montreal. This is only a goodbye, since she will be back in the winter of 2020 for another adventure of #AlexauSagLac! Stay tuned!
