Here is a list of answers to the most frequently asked questions to help you plan your dream vacation this summer in our beautiful region.

Tourisme Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean advises you at all times to call the businesses directly to obtain truthful information on the activities offered.

I live in a region other than Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.
Can I go there now?

Yes, you can visit Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.

Since June 11, it has been possible to travel between the different regions of Quebec. However, there is still a need to exercise caution and apply the precautions issued by the government to limit the risk of spreading the virus. One thing that will not have changed, however, is the legendary welcome of the local population of Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.

I want to go camping.
Is it possible to do that now?

Since 1 June, campsites have been allowed to operate under restrictions to apply the requested sanitary measures.

Several campsites have opened their doors and others will gradually open during the summer to take the time to welcome you safely.

The watchwords are simple:

  • Make your reservations before your trip
  • Find out what activities are available on the site (some institutions may have restricted access as a precautionary measure).
  • Call (as information and measurements change, your best source will still be the institution itself).

I want to go to Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean in the next few weeks.
Will the rest stops and tourist information offices be open?

Yes, for some of them.

As of June 22, the rest stops will be accessible.

The municipal stops, for their part, can decide to open or close. For up-to-date information, Tourisme Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean suggests that you call directly the municipalities concerned by your questions.

The tourist information offices will be able to reopen on June 19. To find out the opening hours, Tourisme Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean suggests that you call the offices concerned directly.

I would like to taste the regional gastronomy during my trip.
Will the restaurants be open?

Yes, since June 15 restaurants can open their establishments.

Some will have changed the formula, others will have adapted their dining room to welcome you, one thing is certain: you will taste our local restaurant for sure! You will be able to enjoy our terraces, several new take-out options, dining rooms and even a take-out option for a picnic in a local park!

Tourisme Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean suggests that you call the establishments directly and/or consult their Facebook page for up-to-date information.

I would like to discover the national parks during my trip.
Will it be possible to do so?

Yes, with a few restrictions.

Most park activities have resumed. However, some activities have not yet been reopened, such as ready-to-camp, some rental services and some trail access. Tourisme Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean suggests that you call the park offices directly to find out what's available in real time.

I would like to travel to Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean this summer.
Will the attractions and activities be open?

Yes, for most of them.

The vast majority can now open their doors.

This summer, you can visit museums, historic sites, interpretation centres, regional and national parks, outfitters and outdoor activities (hiking, canoeing, kayaking, climbing, canyoning, rafting, beaches, bike paths, mountain biking) including equipment rentals and guided activities. You can also visit shops and art galleries, pick your own produce, visit zoos, gardens, marinas, artisan processors and agritourism farms.

Sea excursions will be able to operate from July 1st.

However, venues remain closed and events are cancelled up to and including August 31.

It is possible that some businesses may decide to close their doors for the season or offer reduced activities in order to comply with the health measures in effect.

The watchwords are simple:

  • Make your reservations as far in advance of your trip as possible
  • Find out what activities are available on the site (some institutions may have restricted access as a precautionary measure).
  • Call (as information and measurements change, your best source will still be the institution itself).

I want to rent a cottage/cabin in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean.
Will that be possible?

Yes, under certain restrictions.

Each rented unit (campsite, cottage, outfitter) can accommodate people under the "10-3-2" standard: 10 people maximum from 3 houses keeping 2 meters apart, when the unit's capacity allows it.

I live in the Montreal area.
Will I be welcome?

Yes, you're welcome.

The legendary welcome of the Saguenéens-jeannois will not disappoint you once again! Tourisme Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean is looking forward to your visit and promises you an exceptional vacation. You will be able to admire the immensity of our landscapes, have fun in our attractions and enjoy our renowned gastronomy in compliance with health measures for the safety of all.
