A journey into the heart of the 1920s

Travel back through time to an authentic single-industry village with some forty charming original buildings. The spirit of this enigmatic site, where time has stood still since 1927, will capture the hearts of visitors. The convent-school, general store, post office, abandoned houses and pulp mill all hold secrets which are revealed by a host of colorful characters. Here, history comes to life!

Follow the story of the villagers of Val-Jalbert. You will be transported to the heart of community life in this 1920s-era ultramodern village that was filled with hope, and where, twenty-five years before the rest of Quebec, villagers enjoyed the luxury of electricity and running water.

By foot, handheld GPS or trolleybus, the new circuit tours are a must during your visit. All kinds of cultural and family activities are just waiting to be discovered.

The majestic Ouiatchouan Falls, higher than Niagara Falls, will leave you awestruck.  The spectacular new lookout at the heart of the falls, with its glass platform, provides an unforgettable viewpoint. Hop aboard the cable car and be transported to a breathtaking panoramic mountaintop view in just a moment's time.

Val-Jalbert has been completely upgraded after $ 15 million invested: a new welcome center, multimedia presentation, live animation, geo-rally for the entire family, old fashioned photography studio and guided tours will all enhance your total adventure experience. Stay in renovated rooms that combine modern comfort with the feel of the 1920s. Take a tour of local cuisine and enjoy the new decor of the windmill restaurant.

NEW FOR THE ENTIRE FAMILY
Geo-rally, discovery with GPS 
This interactive treasure hunt, ideal for families, small groups and enthusiasts of new technology, takes place with a GPS and questionnaire.  Hunt for 15 hidden caches at different locations throughout the site, with the help of hints and geographic coordinates along the way.  In addition to this traditional geo-rally, take on the challenge of the NEW “multi-caches” COURSE.

Schedule: June 18 to August 21, every day, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. Off-season: June 4- 17 ans August 22 to October 9, every day, 10:00 am to 5:00 pm; May 6 to June 3 and October 10-31, group reservations only. Last admission: 5:30 pm (Off-season: 4:30 pm).

Admission: Adults: $21.07, children (6-16): $10.53, children (5 -): Free. Famillies (2 adults + 2 children): $54.86. Group rates (35 +).

Face to face with nature
New for the summer of 2011 – Welcome aboard our new comfortable and modern screened trains. The ride takes you through an impressive territory where large North-American mammals live in open areas of the 7 km Parc des sentiers de la nature.

The reception lodge is an outstanding service centre. Upon your arrival, you can watch a multi-sensory film that takes you into the heart of the Boreal world. Another film featuring animals is shown on the big screen. Your naturalist-guides and animal keepers are passionate about their work, and will be happy to answer all your questions.

The Saint-Félicien Zoo is a vast, 485-hectare complex with breathtaking face-to-face meetings with the Boreal world and contact with more than 1,000 animals. On the slate: organized activities, snacks for the animals, children’s garden with all kinds of water games and mascots, and petting farm animals. Nature lovers will enjoy the “Adventure in caribou country” package, a 1 ½-day guided tour upon reservation. Guided tours according to availability and bilingual interpretative signs.
